ZORRO pencils and inks by ChrisSamnee ZORRO pencils and inks by ChrisSamnee
Pencils and inks to my Zorro sketch that can be found over on the Comic Twart blog.

The contrast on the pencils has been turned up quite a bit here, for the sake of clarity, since I tend to pencil so lightly.
"Twart" as in ART made by a group of folks that are on Twitter. Twitter+art=Twart. Get it?
Anyway, each week one of the artists will pick a subject and all of the crazy talented gentlemen will do their own take on said character. There are already some great pieces up on the blog. Go have a look!

I've been a big fan of Zorro since the old Filmation cartoons of the 1970's. This reminds me of the Zorro versus Dracula comic that was released by Topps.

I really like seeing your pencils alongside the inks, insight into the process (and how different it is for different artists) is always cool.

Thanks, Ian. I really get a kick out of analyzing the process of other artists. Glad to see I'm not the only one:)

I've actually done a few pre- and post-processing comparisons in my photography gallery here as well. It's funny, really. I always like to see it when other people post things like that, but I don't normally remember to do it myself.

I think with your work it's especially interesting, because it's clear how much of the work is on the inking end of your process. In comics, it's interesting how some people have pencils that are 90% finished work, and some don't do much more than layouts. As someone who is new to writing comics, the more I can learn about the world of the artists, the better I can improve my own side of the process.
